Political Action CommitteeA Political Action Committee, or a PAC, allows people to collectively participate in the political process. Involvement in the political process can be done through advocacy, political endorsements and lobbying. Each year, hundreds of laws, rules and regulations are adopted by state and local government, which affect the bottom line of businesses in our county. Chamber PAC activities focus on helping to form those that most affect business' competitive edge. The Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce authorized the establishment of a political action committee (TCCCIPAC). The purpose of the committee is to help protect, preserve, and further good government and foster a political environment, which will strengthen the private enterprise system. The committee is a non-profit unincorporated political action committee. It is independent of any political party, candidate, or political organization. The committee is governed by a set of bylaws and administered by a nine member Board of Trustees made up of Chamber members. Activities may include, but not limited to, candidate and ballot measure endorsements and contributions, voter registrations, get-out-the-vote drives and other independent expenditures. The PAC is independent of Chamber finances and is supported by contributions directly to TCCCIPAC from individuals, organizations, businesses, and corporations. The PAC may not accept contributions of more than $500 per year per contributor. |
